According
to the principles of Islam, the dead cannot return to the world once
their souls have been taken away by Allah:
And
it is forbidden for a population which has been destroyed that they
should ever return (Surah 21, Ayah 95)
Similarly,
in a Hadith Qudsi, Allah says:
I
have already decreed that the dead cannot return to the . world
However, Ashraf Thanvi narrates an event from his family history (allegedly) which clearly contradicts this established belief that the dead do not return to the world:
Translation: After
his (Ashraf Thanvi's grandfather) martyrdom, a strange incident occurred. At
night time he came home in a living form and brought sweets for his
household. Then he said: “If you do not reveal this to anyone then
I will come like this everyday.” However, the family became
concerned that people will become suspicious when they see the
children eating sweets, so they revealed what happened. After that,
he never returned. This incident is famous within the family.
