In Your Name, Allahumma
I previously refuted the demonstrably illogical and paradoxical doctrine held by many Muslims, particularly the Barelawis, that the Prophet Muhammad (sall Allahu alaihi wasallam) is simultaneously the first and last of the prophets in the chronological sense. Recently, however, my attention was drawn to an Ayah of the Quran which explicitly states that the Prophet Muhammad (sall Allahu alaihi wasallam) is not the first Apostle of God, ending the debate decisively:
قُلۡ مَا کُنۡتُ بِدۡعًا مِّنَ الرُّسُلِ
Say: "I am not something original among the messengers"
(Surah 46:9 - Sahih International translation)
It was Dr. Nasir Sultani who drew my attention to this Quranic Verse (46:9) as a decisive proof against the false doctrine that Prophet Muhammad (sall Allahu alaihi wasallam) was the first Prophet, preceding Adam and the rest of the prophets that came after him. Credit must be given where it is due. Though I strongly disagree with Dr. Nasir Sultani, and consider him either a liar or delusional for attributing inspirations to Allah Most High that are nonsensical and contravene the Shari'a, many of his views and teachings are otherwise correct.
