The Hanafi scholar, Mulla Ali Qari writes: “Had Ibrahim (the Prophet's son)
lived and become a prophet, and had Umar also become a prophet, they would
have been prophets under the obedience of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) like Jesus, Khidr, and Elias (peace be upon them). And this would not
negate the Verse “Khaatam an Nabiyyeen” (33:40) which means: 'No prophet
can come who will abrogate his Millat or not be from his Ummah'

قُلْتُ وَمَعَ هَذَا لَوْ عَاشَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَصَارَ نَبِيًّا وَكَذَا لَوْ صَارَ عُمَرُ نَبِيًّا لَكَانَا مِنْ أَتْبَاعِهِ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ كَعِيسَى وَالْخَضِرِ وَإِلْيَاسَ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ فَلَا يُنَاقِضُ قَوْلَهُ تَعَالَى {وَخَاتم النَّبِيين} إِذِ الْمَعْنَى أَنَّهُ لَا يَأْتِي نَبِيٌّ بَعْدَهُ يَنْسَخُ مِلَّتَهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ وَيُقَوِّيهِ حَدِيثُ لَوْ كَانَ مُوسَى حَيًّا لِمَا وَسِعَهُ إِلَّا اتِّبَاعِي
