Worldwide, Barelwis celebrate the birthday of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم on the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal. Firstly, this is an innovation which has no proof from Quran and Sunnah, and this is following the Christians who celebrate Christmas.
However, the leader and imam of the Barelwi sect, Ahmad Reza Barelwi, issued a fatwa that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم was actually born on the 8th of Rabi ul Awwal. This means that Barelwis are celebrating on the wrong day!
