According to Deobandis,
Shaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani (rahimahullah) is غوث الاعظم meaning the greatest giver of succour (معاذ الله). This is obvious Shirk (idolatry) as it is Allah Alone Who
is the greatest giver of succour. In a classical Deobandi text it is written:
“Hadrat Ghawth [Abdul Qadir
Jilani] was at that time in the station of Ulûhiyat [divinity] and
Hadrat Shaikh [Mu’in Uddin Chishti] in the station of ‘Abdiyat
[servitude].”

p. 79
Any Muslim who is acquainted
with the creed of our Religion لا الـه الا الله “There is none worthy of worship except Allah” can immediately recognize
the Shirk which the above cited passage reeks with. Furthermore, on the
next page a story is mentioned:
“One day Hadrat Ghawth al-A’zamRA
[Abdul Qadir al-Jilani] was sitting with seven Saints of Allah. With the perception
of insight he saw that a ship was about to sink. He saved it from drowning
through the inner spiritual strength and concentration.”
