In the previous entry, I quoted the great Imam Abi
Hanifa’s (rahmatullah alaih) statement that it is false to interpret the
meaning of Allah’s Attribute of Hand to mean His Power or His Favor. The Imam
apparently explained that this is the way of the deviated Qadariyya and Mu’tazila
sects. In our time, the despicable Deobandis take pride in being muqallidin
(blind-followers) of Imam Abi Hanifa and his Hanafi madhhab. But in terms of
theology and creed, they have manifestly opposed him. The major text of
Deobandi creed, which all Deobandi graduates are expected to sign and adhere
to, states:
ممکن ہے استواء سے مراد غلبہ ہو
اور ہاتھ سے مراد قدرت، تو یہ بھی ہمارے نزدیک حق ہے
“it is possible that the intent of ascension is
domination and of hand is power etc. to make it accessible to the
understandings of the deficient, it is also correct according to us”
(al-Muhannad alal-Mufannad; p.48):
