Mirza of Qadian a Lover of the Cross

 

بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ

In the Name of Allah, the Rahman, the Merciful

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds

Peace and benedictions upon you, my Master, Apostle of Allah

The cross or the crucifix is the main and most recognizable symbol of Christianity. It is anathema to Islam, being a symbol of falsehood and paganism. Muslims are strictly forbidden from wearing the crucifix or displaying the cross. That includes displaying national flags which are emblazoned with the cross, such as the national flags of England, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Iceland, Greece and Georgia. A Companion named Adiyy bin Hatim رضى الله عنه, son of the famous Arab poet Hatim at-Ta’i, who was a Christian but converted to Islam at the blessed hand of the Holy Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم came to him while he was still wearing a gold crucifix around his neck, at which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم reportedly said:

يَا عَدِيُّ اطْرَحْ عَنْكَ هَذَا الْوَثَنَ

O Adiyy! Remove from yourself this idol (Jami at-Tirmidhi, #3095)

The Hadith indicates that the crucifix is an idol which the Christians fashion. It is their object of worship and Muslims must not only reject it but express their allergy to it. Hence, Mother of the Believers A’ishah رضى الله عنها narrates that the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

لَمْ يَكُنْ يَتْرُكُ فِي بَيْتِهِ شَيْئًا فِيهِ تَصَالِيبُ إِلاَّ نَقَضَهُ

He did not leave anything in his house with the symbol of the cross on it except that he destroyed it (Sahih al-Bukhari)

The destruction of crosses and crucifixes is something pleasing to Allah سبحانه وتعالى. Muslims should even avoid designs and patterns that appear to display the shape of a cross out of zeal for our God and our Prophet.

But as for the false prophet and antichrist Mirza of Qadian, he apparently loved the cross as he said:

سو ایسا ہی میں بھی مخلوق کی بھلائی کے لۓ صلیب سے پیار کرتا ہوں

So, I also, for the goodness of the creation, love the cross (Ruhani Khaza’in, v.15, p.499; Tiryaq ul-Qulub, p.371)

This despite the fact that the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم not only personally hated the cross but proclaimed that when the Messiah Jesus عليه السلام comes he will break the cross:

لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَنْزِلَ فِيكُمُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ حَكَمًا مُقْسِطًا فَيَكْسِرَ الصَّلِيبَ وَيَقْتُلَ الْخِنْزِيرَ

The Hour shall not be established until descends among you the Son of Mary, a just ruler, so he will break the cross and kill the swine (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Mirza of Qadian falsely claimed to be the fulfillment of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming yet not only did he not break any cross or kill any swine, he actually expressed love for the cross!
