The Deobandi Heresy: "Prophet (عليه السلام) directly hears from his Grave"

The heresy known as Sima᾿ al-Mawtaa (that the dead are able to hear things from this world) is the foundation upon which the Shirk and graveworship that has infected this Ummah like a virus is built upon. In no less than five distinct passages of the Pure and Holy Qur᾿an does Almighty Allah Most High repudiate this idea that the dead can hear. He says:

And those whom you invoke besides Him [Allah] do not even own the membrane on a date-stone...

If you invoke them they cannot hear your invocation. And if they were to hear you they would still be unable to answer you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will reject your Shirk. And no one can inform as He Who is aware. [Surah 35:13-14]

*This verse of the Holy Qur᾿an gives no opportunity to dissent for those who believe the dead can hear. Allah says that the ones who are invoked apart from him cannot hear, and if hypothetically they could hear they would still be unable to answer the supplications of the polytheists. Furthermore, the identity of “those who are invoked” becomes apparent when Allah adds that on the Day of Resurrection they will reject the Shirk that their so called devotees indulged in. It can be none other than the pious people who are deceased that is meant by this passage, because it is not the idols or imaginary gods that shall be resurrected on Judgment Day but the people who are buried in the graves.

And who is more astray than the one who invokes, besides Allah, one who cannot answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and is, concerning his invocation, utterly unconscious. (Surah 46:5)

This verse reinforces the fact that the dead cannot hear. Here again the mention of the “Day of Resurrection” makes it apparent that the deceased are meant specifically, so as to leave no room for maneuver for those astray sects who believe the dead can hear.

Verily, you (O Prophet) cannot make the dead to hear, nor can you make the deaf to hear the call when they turn their backs in retreat (Surah 27:80 and 30:52)

Another strong proof from the Holy Qur᾿an that the dead cannot hear, just like the deaf cannot hear. It is often argued that in this passage the “dead” refer to those who are spiritually dead meaning the disbelievers. They are called to submit to Allah but they are unable to hear. While the context of this verse does indeed lend credence to this argument, the fact remains that whether physically dead or metaphorically dead, Allah negates the possibility of either having the capacity to hear. Otherwise it would be pointless for the disbelievers to be compared to the dead if the actual dead have the capacity to hear. The whole point of the parable would be nullified. Furthermore, Allah says that the deaf cannot hear when they turn their backs and retreat. This is something that is obvious and no sane individual would dispute. Hence the comparison of the disbelievers with the dead and the deaf in the sense of not being able to hear proves that the actual dead, like the deaf, are unable to hear at all.

And nor are the the living and the dead alike. Verily, Allah can make whosoever He wishes to hear. But you (O Prophet) cannot make to hear those who are in the graves. (Surah 35:22)

This verse specifically mentions “those who are in the graves”, against making it more than apparent that the actual deceased cannot hear, and not just the carved idols and images, because idols and images that are worshiped besides Allah are not buried in graves. Being buried in a grave is specific to human beings.

The Deobandi sect, particularly the Hayati camp (who believe the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم is literally alive in this world and can hear directly from his grave) quote a fabricated Hadith to support their view:

Translation: “Whoever invokes blessing upon me near my grave, I hear him, and whoever invokes blessing upon me from afar it is conveyed to me.” (Hayat al-Ambiya fi Quburihim of Imam al-Baihaqi)

As already mentioned, this Hadith is fabricated. Its sanad includes the narrator Al-᾿Alaa᾿ b. Amr al-Hanafi, a known liar and fabricator. Though it is quite revealing of the deceptive nature of the Deobandis that they cite as evidence for their heresy a fabricated Hadith which opposes several verses of the Holy Qur᾿an.

The Jama᾿at-ut-Tabligh, or Tablighi Jama᾿at is the missionary wing of the Deobandi movement. It misguides millions of Muslims around the world and indoctrinates them with Deobandi heresies. The Tablighi Jama᾿at and Deobandis avidly read the series of booklets known as Fada᾿il-i-A᾿mal composed by Zakariyah Kandhelwi (1898-1982). One of those booklets is called Fada᾿il-i-Durud and contains the following quote describing the belief of the Deobandi sect:

Translation: “Whoever will send Durud from afar, Angels are duty bound to have it reach the Prophet (S). And whoever will read (Durud) nearby (the Prophet᾿s grave), the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam hears it himself...Whoever reads Durud near the pure Grave, the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam hears it directly with his person.”

Deobandi Couplets of Shirk and Kufr

Deoband is perhaps the most severe calamity upon the vulnerable Muslim Ummah to date. Its insidiousness lies in the fact that it pretends to be a reformist and pietist movement with the objective of reviving the spirit of worship and obedience to the divine laws of the Shari᾿ah. The reality is of course quite different. Deoband is a fraudulent and deceptive movement that propagates Satanic beliefs and Shirk under the cover of “spirituality”. Its worst crime its apology for grave worship calling upon the dead and associating partners with Allah, including the ascription of purely divine attributes to the created entities. The despicable Deobandi apologist, Hussain Ahmad Madani (1879-1957) was an avowed and proud defender of the fraudulent spirituality of the pseudo-mystics and the polytheistic grave worship they infected this Ummah with. He defends the following idolatrous couplet:

Translation: “O best of the creation! I have no one in whom I can take refuge in...except you at the time of widespread calamity.”

The Deobandi mulla proudly defends this filthy couplet of Shirk and Kufr, and furthermore quotes one of his own Deobandi elders (Qasim Nanotwi – founder of Dar-ul-Ulum Deoband) as affirming the meaning of this couplet with another:

Translation: “Help me Karam Ahmadi for there is none except you...For Qasim there is no one to help...If we do not ask from you then who will ask?...Who will become, apart from you, our reliever of distress?”

Deobandi Fatwa Permits People to Lie

Lying is universally recognized as a sin. Islam above all other faiths stresses honesty and sincerity the most. The gravity of the sin of lying can be discerned from the proceeding verse of the Holy Qur᾿an:

May the Curse of Allah be upon the liars [Surah 3:61]

Allah Most High teaches His servants to always be sincere and just and never to tell a lie or commit a deception for a measly profit in this world. Muslims must be truthful and principled people who tell the truth always, even if it will be inconvenient for them:

O you who believe, be upholders of justice - witnesses for Allah, even though against (the interest of) your selves or the parents, and the kinsmen. One may be rich or poor, Allah is better caretaker of both. So do not follow desires, lest you should swerve. If you twist or avoid (the evidence), then, Allah is all-aware of what you do.‎ [Surah 4:135]

Now let us turn to one of the most misguided and destructive sects which has regrettably emerged within the Muslim Ummah that has been a factor in the public losing sight of the golden values of honesty and justice. I am of course referring to the Deobandi sect which has perfected the art of lying and deceit. The mufti of the Deobandi sect, Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, issued Fatawa which gave permission to Muslims in India to not only lie in their testimony before the courts, but also speak lies to protect or further one᾿s own rights if the “need” for it arises. Below are the original quotations and photostats from the book Fatawa Rashidiyah:

[Heading: Speaking Lies in the Courtroom]

Question: A person᾿s case is factual and true but is against the English law. In that [case] if a person, for the sake of acquiring his right, mixes in a bit of lying [Kidhb] will it be permissible or not?

Answer: For the propagation of truth to speak a lie is correct. However, as long as possible fight the case. If there is no other way then lie profusely, otherwise put forward a complaint.

[Heading: Lying or Having Someone Lie to Establish One᾿s Right]

Question: Is it correct or not to speak a lie oneself or have others lie in order to establish one᾿s right?

Answer: If one᾿s right will be nullified through the [proper] course of action, then instead of persuasion speaking lies for the propagation of truth is permissible [Mubah], but avoid obvious lies.

Sufi "Saint" Abul Hasan Kharaqani Feels Shame in Obeying the Prophet (A.S)

The Sufi “saint” Fariduddin Attar (1110-1221), in his book Tadkirat ul-Awliya mentions some of the annals of another Sufi who preceded him, Abul-Hasan al-Kharaqani (d. 1033). According to what he has narrated, Kharaqani had many statements of undeniable Kufr and Shirk. According to one, Kharaqani reportedly said to Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni:

I am so drowned in the obedience of Allah that I even feel shame in being under the obedience of the Rasul.”

Salafi Mufti Sh. Bin Uthaymin Says Opening of the Chest of Prophet (A.S) was not Physical

In the Name of Allah; the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

With respect to the Ayat of the Holy Quran in which Allah Most Exalted addresses His Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam):

Have We not opened for you your chest (Surah 94:1)

There appears to be a difference of opinion regarding whether this is a literary expression signifying the fact that Allah Most High opened the heart of the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) to His guidance and wisdom; or whether this was a literal cutting open of the chest of the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) as is apparent from the following narration:

It was narrated from Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) that that Jibreel came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) when he was playing with the other boys. He took hold of him and threw him to the ground, then he opened his chest and took out his heart, from which he took a clot of blood and said: “This was the Shaytaan’s share of you.” Then he washed it in a vessel of gold that was filled with Zamzam. Then he put it back together and returned it to its place. The boys went running to his mother – meaning his nurse – and said: Muhammad has been killed! They went to him and his colour had changed. Anas said: I used to see the mark of that stitching on his chest.

Narrated by Muslim (162).

Classical Mufasireen such as Imam Jalaluddin al-Suyuti (Rahimahullah) and Imam Qurtubi (Rahimahullah) have copied these narrations into their respective books of Tafasir in explanation of the above cited Verse of the Holy Qur’an (94:1).

However, the Salafi/Saudi scholar, Shaikh Bin Uthaymin, has explained in his own Tafsir that the above cited Verse does not refer to anything that can be understood as being physical:

This opening is metaphorical, not physical. The opening of the heart may be done so that it is able to receive the decree of Allaah of both types, the shar’i decrees of Allaah, which means religion, and the decree of Allaah which has to do with the calamities that may befall man

Iblis (Satan) Prays to Allah with Hope for Salvation and Acceptance of His Repentance!

Translation: Iblis is offering Namaz [Salat] on a mountain. Seeing this new thing from him, I said: Your job is to make people neglect prayers, but now you yourself are praying?! He (Iblis) said: Perhaps the Lord of Honor (Allah) Most High will accept my prayer and grant me salvation.”

Ahl al Hadith Muhaddith Proves Two Sendings of Prophet (Alaihis salam) from Quran Surah Jumuah

The great scholar and Muhaddith of the Ahl al Hadith school, Muhammad b. Abdur Rahman al-Mubarakfuri (d. 1483 H), in explaining the verse of the Holy Qur'an

And others among them who have not met them. And He (Allah) is the Mighty, the Wise.” (Surah 62:3)

The Muhaddith explains the verse as indicating that the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) has been sent with two sendings, one sending (بعث) to the Ummiyyeen, meaning the unlettered Arabs among whom the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) was born and raised, and a second seconding to the Akhireen, meaning those people who will come after during the latter days, particularly the non-Arabs. Mubarakfuri writes:

meaning that the “Akhireen” are in addition and continuation of what has been said about the Ummiyyeen. That is, the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) has been sent among the Ummiyyeen who were in his time, and he has been sent among the Akhireen from among them.

Al-Mubarakfuri, like many other commentators and scholars, has affirmed the fact that this passage of the Holy Quran proves a sort of second coming or sending of the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) in the latter days but in a metaphoric sense. This fact is further elucidated by the authentic Hadith about faith being brought back from the Pleiades by a man from the people of Salman al-Farisi (R.A).

Hanafis attribute Durr al Mukhtar to Allah!

Hanafis Attribute the Book “Durr al Mukhtar” to Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam), Angel Gabriel, and Allah!

(Surah 2:79)

The shameless Hanafis themselves fabricated the text of the jurisprudential work known as Durr al-Mukhtar. But in the introduction of this book, its Sanad (chain of narrators) is given, reaching up to the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) through his companion Abdullah b. Mas'ud (Radiyallaho anho). And the Sanad includes Allah Himself, meaning the book is attributed to Allah, as narrated by Angel Gabriel!

Translation: “[this text] is narrated from Abdullah b. Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam), from the trustworthy harbinger of Revelation angel Gabriel peace be upon him, from Al-Hakam [Allah] the Just, Jalla Jalaaluhu, hallowed be His Names.”

Barelwi Belief: Yaahowa is the Greatest Name of Allah

Who was the FIRST Prophet?

Who was the First Prophet?

I have cited literally dozens of Islamic references on my blog proving that the reality of Khatam an-Nabuwwah is that no prophet can come after our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) who does not conform to his Shari'ah and does not belong to his Ummah. But leaving aside the issue of who is the Last Prophet for the time being, let us turn to an intimately related question, which is: Who was the First Prophet?

If you are a Muslim reading this, the answer has already surfaced in your mind that the first prophet was Adam (peace be upon him). Of course you would not be incorrect. But the fact that the Holy Quran does not explicitly state that Adam was a Nabi or Rasul has resulted in a difference of opinion among some of the scholars and schools of thought. For example, Imam Ibn Kathir cites in his monumental Tafsir the view of Ibn Abbas, Mujahid and Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with them):

The first prophet to be sent was Noah”

Allah sent unto them Noah, peace be upon him, so he was the first Messenger sent by Allah to the people of the Earth.”

Reference: Tafsir Ibn Kathir; v.1 p.569

Similarly, the Arab scholar Shaikh Abu Bakr al-Jazairi also stated that the first prophet was Noah:

Reference: Minhaj-ul-Muslim; p.24

Perhaps they have based their view on the Hadith of Intercession which described Noah as the first Rasul to be sent by Allah:

Translation: “On the Day of Resurrection the believers will assemble and say, 'Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'You are the father of all the people, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the Angels to prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things; so please intercede for us with your Lord, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not for for this (i.e., intercession for you).' Then Adam will remember his sin and feel ashamed thereof. He will say, 'Go to Noah, for he was the first Messenger Allah sent to the inhabitants of the Earth.'”

(Sahih al-Bukhari; Kitab al-Tafsir, H.4476)

This Hadith clearly demonstrates that instead of Adam, it is Noah who is described as the first Rasul (Messenger) sent by Allah.

But if someone raises an objection that Noah was the first Rasul (Messenger) but not the first Nabi (Prophet), based on the idea that while every Messenger is a Prophet but not necessarily every Prophet is a Messenger, the fact of the matter is that other versions of this Hadith clearly have the wording that Noah was the first Nabi (Prophet):

When Adam is asked to intercede for the Believers on the Day of Resurrection he will refuse, instead saying: “Go to Noah, for he is the First of the Prophets and the eldest of them.” (Musnad al-Bazaar and Al-Tawhid of Ibn Khuzaymah)

According to another version:

Adam will say: “But go to Noah, the first Prophet Allah sent to the worlds” (Ibid)

Another version:

Adam will say: “Go to Noah for he is the Head of the Prophets” (Musnad of Imam Ahmad)

All of these narrations prove that Noah is the “first Prophet”, the “first of all Prophets”, the “head of the Prophets”, and the “first Prophet sent by Allah to the people of the Earth”.

So now the question arises concerning the status of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). Should it be accepted that chronologically the first Prophet was Noah, therefore Adam was not a prophet? In fact, we Muslims believe that Adam's son Seth (peace be upon him) was also a Prophet, and similarly, the Holy Qur'an declares that Idris (Enoch) was a Prophet. These three figures (Adam, Seth and Idris) all came before Prophet Noah. It seems there is a major inconsistency here that is begging to be resolved.

So first of all, let us see whether Adam truly is a Prophet. His Prophethood is proven from the Hadith of Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him):

A man said: “O Messenger of Allah, was Adam a Prophet?” [The Messenger of Allah Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) said: “Yes, a Mukallam [a prophet who converses with Allah]. The man asked: “What was the period between him and Noah?” The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) said: “Ten generations.” (Sahih Ibn Hibban; Kitab al-Tarikh)

Pay attention to this critical Hadith because it has just resolved our little dilemma! How can both Adam and Noah be the “first Prophet”? The answer is that Noah is the “First Prophet” in the sense of being specifically sent to a people with a fresh Risalah [message] from Allah and with a comprehensive Shariah. Prophet Adam is the first prophet in a chronological sense, although he is described as being a Mukallam meaning a specific type of Prophet who, though not receiving a comprehensive Shariah or being spent to an actual nation of people to deliver a fresh message of Allah to them, is nevertheless a Prophet in the sense of receiving divine communication from Allah. It is in this sense which the other prophets (Sheth and Idris) who preceded Noah must also be considered as Prophets.

A third point of view relevant to this discussion is that in fact the first Prophet is our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam)! That is based on the well known Hadith:

I am the servant Allah, the Seal of the Prophets [while] Adam peace be upon him was still clay.” [Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal]

And the Hadith of Abi Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him):

Abi Hurairah said: “O Messenger of Allah, when was Nubuwwah [Prophethood] made obligatory upon you?” The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) said: “While Adam was between spirit and body.” [Jami at-Tirmidhi]

Similarly, there is the Hadith:

Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) is the first of the Prophets to be created and the last of them to be sent. [Al-Sunnah of Ibn al Khallal]

These Ahadith reveal the fact that there are at least three different Prophets who can be considered as the “First” Prophet but each in a different sense. For example, Adam is the first Prophet in the sense that he is the father of mankind and that he was conversant with Allah, hence a Mukallam. Noah is the first Prophet in the sense of being the first one to be sent by Allah to the people of the Earth with a Message and a comprehensive Shari'ah. And our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam) can also be considered as the “First” Prophet in the sense of being the First one to be written as a Prophet in the sight of Allah, while the creation of Adam was not yet complete.

In summary, just as there can be a different point of view regarding the significance of who exactly is the “First” Prophet, I invite the reader to consider the fact that the question of who is the “Last” Prophet and what is the reality of Khaatam an-Nabiyyeen can likewise be examined from another perspective.
