بِسۡمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِیۡمِ
الصلاة والسلام عليك يا سيدي يا رسول الله
In the Name of Allah, the Rahman, the Merciful
Blessings and salutations of peace be upon you my Master, Apostle of Allah
There are many indications in the Holy Quran about the Second Coming of Jesus, among which are:
وَیُعَلِّمُہُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَالۡحِکۡمَۃَ وَالتَّوۡرٰٮۃَ وَالۡاِنۡجِیۡلَ
And He will teach him (Jesus) the Book, and the Wisdom, and the Torah and the Evangel
(Surah 3, Ayah 48)
The Ayah is significant in that it lists four items which Allah Most High will teach the Messiah Jesus عليه السلام namely, the Book, the Wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel. It is logical to understand from this that the Kitab, meaning the Book or the Scripture, is something separate from the Torah and the Evangel, as they are all listed separately. Elsewhere in the Holy Quran the oft repeated mention of the Kitab and the Hikmah has been understood as referring to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
The first mention of this term in the Holy Quran is in the prayer of Abraham عليه السلام
رَبَّنَا وَابۡعَثۡ فِیۡہِمۡ رَسُوۡلًا مِّنۡہُمۡ یَتۡلُوۡا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اٰیٰتِکَ وَیُعَلِّمُہُمُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَالۡحِکۡمَۃَ وَیُزَکِّیۡہِمۡ
Our Lord, raise up from among them an Apostle [Muhammad] who shall recite upon them Your Verses and teach them the Scripture [Quran] and the Wisdom [Sunnah] and purify them
(Surah 2, Ayah 129)
In the monumental Tafsir of Allamah Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, translated by Mahmud ul-Hasan known as “Shaikh ul-Hind”, commenting on the Ayah (3:48):
اور بندہ کے خیال میں ممکن ہے کتاب وحکمت سے مراد قرآن وسنت ہو کیونکہ حضرت مسیح نزول کے بعد قرآن وسنت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے موافق حکم کریں گے اور یہ جب ہی ہوسکتا ہے کہ ان چیزوں کا علم دیا جائے واللہ اعلم
In my opinion it is possible that the Quran and Sunnah is intended by Kitab and Hikmah because the Messiah, after his descent, shall judge according to the Quran and Sunnah of the Apostle of Allah (Muhammad), peace be upon him. And that can only happen if he is given knowledge of those things, and Allah knows best (Tafsir Usmani, v.1, p.273)
