Musa al-Kazim Denied Claiming Imamate

In the Name of Allah, the Rahman, the Merciful

The pious Imam, Musa al-Kazim, may Allah have mercy on him, is considered the seventh divinely appointed Imam by the Twelver Shia sect. However, Musa al-Kazim himself did not make such a claim, but rather, in reply to his cousin, Yahya bin Abdullah, who accused him of laying claim to Imamate, said:

Your letter came to me in which you mentioned that I am a claimant and that my father was before me, but you did not hear that from me (Usul al-Kafi, v.1, p.228, ch.138, #19)

Sayyid Zafar Hasan Amrohi translated the statement of Imam Musa al-Kazim into Urdu
