Deobandism and Grave Veneration

The Deobandis like to deceive the common public by claiming that they uphold Tawhid and that they do not indulge in the grave worship that has come to characterize the rival Barelwi sect. However, the reality is that the difference between Deobandis and Barelwis is quite superficial. Aside from the fact that they are both blind-followers of the Hanafi school, blindly accept the fallacious Maturidi creed, and adhere to the four Sufi orders (Naqshbandi, Qadiri, Chishti, and Suhruwardi)...the Deobandis share the idea of grave veneration with the Barelwis as well. To illustrate an example, read the following incident which is claimed to be a miracle of the Deobandi 'elder' Muhammad Ya'qub Nanautvi:

حضرت مولانا کی ایک کرامت جو بعد وفات ہوئی بیان فرماتے تھے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہمارے نانوتہ میں جاڑہ بخار کی بہت کثرت ہوئی سو جو شخص مولانا کی قبر سے مٹی لے جاکر باندھ لیتا اسے ہی آرام ہو جاتا

Translation:“Molvi Mu’een ud Deen Sahib was the eldest son of Hazrat Maulana Muahmmad Ya’qub Sahib and he mentioned a Karamat of Hazrat Maulana (after he passed away): he said that once in Nanotah the fever of Jarah spread a lot, and whoever would take the sand at the grave of Maulana and attach it, would get better, and they would take so much sand that whenever we will put some, it would be finish almost at that time."
