Barelwi Muhammad Tayyab Danapuri: Respect for Devil in Iqbal's Heart

In a previous entry I exposed the fact that the so-called “Poet of the East”, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, mistakenly hailed as a great Islamic thinker and philosopher, celebrated and praised the Devil himself (God forbid). The contemporary Barelwi mulla and rabble rouser, Khadim Husain Rizvi, boasts that he has preserved the poetry of Iqbal in his heart and frequently quotes from Iqbal during his sermons. He highly praises Iqbal as do many other mullas. Ironically, Iqbal explicitly condemned mulla-ism but the mullas of Pakistan and even Iran laud Iqbal as some sort of great Islamic revivalist. However, the mullas of Iqbal’s day were not so timid about condemning him. For example, the Barelwi mulla, Muhammad Tayyab Danapuri, wrote:
ڈاکٹر صاحب کے قلب میں ابلیس کی بھی بہت عزّت و عظمت معلوم ہوتی ہے
“There is great respect for Iblis in Dr. Iqbal’s heart.” (Tajanibo Ahle Sunnat p.482)

Danapuri then proceeds to cite examples of this reality from Iqbal’s own poetry, in which he boasts that Iblis is acquainted with such matters that not even the Angel Gabriel is aware of, etc.
