Allama Ahmad Said
Chitrori was among the contemporary Islamic scholars who deny the reality of
magic, and reject the belief that the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam)
was, God forbid, affected by a magic spell.
“The Holy Qur’an says that Magic
is Shirk, Kufr and Ifk. It has
no reality, it is false. Like Shirk, Magic is unreal.”

Regarding the
narrations which speak of the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) having been
bewitched by a magic spell, Allama Ahmad Said Chitrori says:
“The
narrations about magic contradict the Qur’an and are tantamount to blasphemy
against the Prophet” (p.119)
Allama Ahmad Said Chitrori has alluded to the Verses in the Holy Qur’an:
We inspired to Moses: “Throw your Staff,” and at once it devoured what
they were falsifying. (7:117)
Then Moses threw his Staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
(26:45)
These Verses are explicit in revealing the fact that the Magic which the
Pharaonic magicians had performed, dazzling the eyes of the spectators, was
nothing but Ifk, or falsehood, having no reality.
