The Imam and
founder of the Maturidi sect, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi (853-944 C.E), clarified
the fact that the Mu’tazilite interpretation of the following Verse is
incorrect:
Faces that Day will
be radiant. Looking at their Lord
(75:22-23)
According to the Mu’tazilite
interpretation of this Qur’anic passage, it means that those mentioned in this
Verse with glad-tidings in the Hereafter will be Waiting for the Lord,
not Looking at him. However, Imam Abu Mansur al-Maturidi (Rahimahullah)
has refuted this wrong interpretation by saying:
And the particle “Ilaa” is used in the sense of looking at something, no
for waiting.

Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian has also affirmed the reality of the Beatific Vision in light of this Verse (75:23). He wrote:
