Hanafi Fiqh: Milk of Donkeys is Pure!

In our previous post, we established that according to the Hanafi jurisprudence, it is permissible to slaughter and sell the meat of donkeys. Now in this entry is a reference from the main Hanafi manual of fiqh called “Hidayah” (which in a previous post was mentioned is regarded as similar to the Qur'an by the Hanafis). According to “Hidayah” the milk of donkeys is pure (which means it is drinkable according to the Hanafis!)

وَكَذَا لَبَنُهُ طَاهِرٌ

Translation: And its (donkey) milk is pure
